If your child is diagnosed at risk of an anaphylactic reaction a ASCIA action plan is developed by your child's specialist or G.P. This outlines the care that needs to occur if your child has a severe allergic reaction. An updated ASCIA action plan and prescribed medication needs to be submitted to the school office. Allergies If your child has been diagnosed with an allergy or allergies, it is important that you inform the front office as soon as you become aware of it. You will need to supply the school with an allergy plan and medication if required. Asthma An asthma care plan and relevant asthma medication will need to be submitted to the front office if your child has asthma. If your child has sever or frequent asthma you will also be asked to complete an Individual Health Care Plan as well as the asthma care plan. Prescribed medication If your child is being prescribed medication that needs to be taken during the day, please take the medication to the front office, where you will be given a form to fill out giving the school permission to administer the medication. Your child should not keep any form of medication on them. Please read the important information about pre scribed medications at school. Infectious diseases There are many infectious diseases that affect children and young people. Schools and parents should contact their local health network for advice regarding infectious diseases. Immunisation We support the immunisation of students, before they enter Kindergarten, to protect them against outbreaks of infectious diseases. Head lice Head lice outbreaks sometimes occur at school. If your child has head lice please treat your child and inform us. Daily combing of dry hair with conditioner can get rid of head lice. You should continue to send your child to school. Head lice information in community languages. Healthy eating at school Healthy food keeps children alert and focused and gives them the nutrition they need each day. Our school canteen provides a healthy, nutritious canteen menu in line with the Fresh Tastes NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy. If your child brings their own lunch to school you can help by packing food that is interesting and nutritious. See lunch box ideas. Sun safety Our school takes sun safety seriously. Children learn about how to protect themselves from the sun's damaging UV rays, and our school implements a range of sun protection strategies. Sun sense information in community languages. |
